Redbreast Single Cask

Let's talk whiskey.

Redbreast Single Cask

Postby Good Whiskey Hunting » Wed Feb 25, 2015 10:10 pm

There will be a couple of new Single Casks for thewhiskyexchange.com.

We've had lots of Midleton Single Casks but this will be a first for Redbreast. I'm an avid collector and drinker or Redbreasts so I'm sure this will be right up my street.

Do anybody know what happened to this bottling. I didn't see or couldn't find any further details.

I had a chance to review some of the tasting notes from that night and it's very interesting to read about some of the winning characteristics of the selected Redbreast cask. I reckon the Mano a Lámh wasn't far off the mark at all! Hint hint :D

Cheers John,

It's hard to believe they got so many bottles at C/S from a single cask. If love to try it but at €240+ p&p I think I'll be waiting.

It is expensive, but it is kind of what I expected. Sterling had dipped recently too, so it might have seemed worse a month or so ago.

I think a sherry cask can hold about 500l, so this one might have lost about 20 percent over the 15/16 years. If it lost an average of 2% a year and started off at 500l, then it should yield about 528 bottles.

Yes, sounds about right in regards to yield and in regards to price it is probably more to do with IDL than The Whisky Exchange.

No mid teens which shiould be priced over €150 so it's more to do with their premiumisation of the brand rather than anything else, unfortunately.

I think IDL have been using too much L'Oreal products over the years ;)

The Teeling cask strength independents aged 22 to 27 years seem good value by comparison. They are priced between 180 and 270 euro.

But I suppose there is only one single cask Redbreast. Or at least very few single sherry casks from Midleton.

Interesting that a few of the reviews mention matchboxes and matches. Suggests quite a meaty one.

We may all chip in and get a few drams each.

I went to the Midleton Academy last year and tasted a stunning whiskey straight out of the Sherry cask. I was licking the air around it.

I wonder will there be many of these Redbreast single casks. Powers have a couple out now and I'm betting on more. I'll keep an eye on LMdW too.

The Whisky business has a write up about the new single cask.
