Let's talk whiskey.

1 bottle to buy in CWS , which one?

Postby zenmonk » Wed Sep 24, 2014 3:28 pm

Hi lads, up from the sticks on Monday eve and intend dropping into the Celtic Whiskey Shop for a bottle. Have a budget of €150 ish but can go under or slightly over. My favourite whiskies would be Redbreast 12, Powers John Lane, HP12, some of the Glendronachs, Green Spot, JW Black label etc. Something different would be nice along those lines. Would like one good bottle for the winter, you're suggestions welcomed. (Also any other good whiskey shops in the city or Citywest/Tallaght areas?)

Maybe the new Connemara 22-year-old?

Is this very peaty John? Although I enjoy the odd peated dram my preference would be non peated or lightly peated at best.
What's the Lagavulin 16 like?

Are you back up for WhiskyLIve? It may be worth waiting until then. I hear great things about Jameson & the Franciscan Well. I'm sure there be another one or two released around then.

Here's a thread with some predictions from early in the year, I wonder which will come to pass?

I have yet to taste it but heard it is not very peaty. The peatiness has receded over time in the cask. Hopefully I will try it soon.

One hell of a whiskey in my humble opinion.
