Kilbeggan 21 year old.

Let's talk whiskey.

I had the pleasure of tasting a sample of Kilbeggan 21 year old recently. It was an experimental sample but it was very impressive. I look forward to the finished article.

I remember this well. Very nice even if it was at the experimental stage.

Here's the finished produce.

Ok just tucking into this now. Stove is lit , wind blowing outside. Perfect whiskey weather. Nose is subtle - menthol, dried fruit but mild for a 21 year blend. Spice is amazing on first taste and my mouth is zinging for ages.
Definitely punches above its 40% and tastes stronger. Actually it reminds me of a PPS perhaps Johns Lane?

Nice

Had the pleasure of tasting this lovely blend at the Irish Whiskey Awards 2014 ceremony a few months ago at the Kilbeggan Distillery.

Beam / Suntory used this event to launch 2 new expressions and John Cashman, Global Brand Ambassador for Beam / Suntory did a very entertaining speech to introduce us to Kilbeggan 21 yo and Connemara 22 yo.

I must admit to not being a peated fan, so the Connemara was lost on me, but the Kilbeggan certainly impressed.

Being a relative newbie to whiskey in the last few years I can't do tasting notes other than it's rich and spicy. The only thing that holds me back is the 125 euro price tag, although The Loop at Dublin Airport has it for 115.
