I don't see whisky as a good pairing with food, but some people do. I like whisky and I like food, though.

I can't see my way to pairing whiskey with a meal, except with a cheese plate at the end, perhaps. But I haven't tried it and the writer (Tim?) said it worked for him so maybe I shouldn't be so dismissive.

Hard to beat a pint glass of Coke and crushed ice with a meal though.
