Another bottle of Redbreast down. The problem is I can drink one in a single sitting. I try not to, but it does happen. I blame Irish Distillers.

Wow, instead of the happy face, I thought you would finish the sentence with a 'hung over/headache' face! The RB 12 is quite enjoyable.

I remember a Scot once apologising for Grouse in a pub in Germany, such was his dislike for it. He claimed it was a waste of a glass bottle.

I just finished a bottle of Tullamore DEW, Kilbeggan and Beam's Devils Cut. I'd been mixing them and enjoyed the results. I was working for St. Patrick's and am making up for lost time.
There's a bottle of Booker's that needs addressing.

This past weekend saw the end of a bottle of Te Bheag. Definitely (and not surprisingly) Talisker-influenced for the malt component, with a nice sherry underpinning. An excellent blended whisky that will be another repeat visitor to my cabinet in the future.

A frew dregs have been finished off recently ...

North Port Rare Malts 1979 (20yo) - I opened this more than 10 years ago. It always brought to mind the question ... what was I worried about in 1979?
Glenfarclas 30yo - old sherry, very nice but not worth it ... and the only new bottle opened in 2012!
Springbank 10yo (Blackadder) dist 1991 - I really enjoyed this one - a peaty Springbank - really sad to see it finally go the way of all whisky.
Ardbeg Very Young - I really do hope that I've a replacement hidden somewhere!
Bushmills Dist Reserve
Bushmills Rum Cask dist 1989 (Celtic Whiskey Shop) - I eked this one out to last me much longer than it should have, always pushing it to the back of the shelf so that I'd ignore it for a while and rediscover it a year later.

I must put up the rest of the ghosts finished off in the recent past.

Last night just polished off a Yellow Spot, had improved in my mind again after I though the bottle had got a bit sour! but it possibly was my taste buds?!?!?!?

Just finished another bottle of the TWC Blend. I love how it is good straight and also with cola. Maybe it is the American in me but I like the fact that it taste good on its own and in a drink with ice. Great stuff!

I've yet to get a bottle but looking forward to it. The 21 year old we tasted in dingle recently was very nice. Is it available outside Dublin?

Good to hear that the 21 year old was well received in Dingle. That was a very special and rare pre-release bottle. My friend in the warehouse tells me that they will be running the first bottles down the line in the next few weeks. With a little luck you should see the TWC 21yr in shops this summer.

My 2011 bottling of Lagavulin 16 finally bit the dust last week. My friend, who generously gave me the bottle as a birthday present in Sept. 2011, was disappointed to hear that it was gone as we found that his 2012 bottle was dull in comparison. I have a 200 ml bottle in the cabinet.

I just finished a bottle of Irishman Cask Strength.
I've a wisdom tooth trying and succeeding to make my life a misery. I felt Cask strength was the right medication. I've a week to go before I can get surgery and have a couple of bottles of other Cask Strengths.

6 more bit the dust last night at a neighbourhood BBQ
1) Powers NAS - there was much early demand for hot whiskeys, and Power's is best IMHO - had to use Jameson for the remaining ones.
2) Bowmore 1989, 16yo, 51.8% - a bit too perfumey in its final months in bottle, but a favourite in its early days.
3) Bruichladdich "Peat" , 46% - I never really liked this one - a bit buttery
4) Blackadder Tormor Raw Cask, Dist 1990, 66.2% - light and fruity
5) Aberlour 100 proof - very sherried and lasted the pace well - tasted much nicer outdoors that I recall indoors!
6) Locke's "Grand Crew" cask 696, 59.4% - a favourite!

In the last month, my Evan Williams (2000) 'Binny's Handpicked' Single Barrel bourbon and my Koval (a Chicago craft distillery) Lion's Pride Dark Wheat 100% single grain whiskey have been laid to rest.

For anyone that has not had bourbon before, or is thinking of getting into it, the EWSB line (they release a bottling each year) is, imho, an excellent representation of the standard rye-based mashbill bourbon, at a good price. Wonderful vanilla, oak, and caramel notes are clearly noted.

In the next 2-3 weeks, a Port Charlotte 'An Turas Mor' and Parker's Heritage Collection 4th ed 10 yo wheated bourbon will be the next to go.

The PC ATM has departed, though the Parker's still holds a healthy pour to savour over a couple of hours. Next to go are likely mini bottles of Yoichi 10 and Alberta Premium. Laphroaig Cairdeas and Rowan's Creek Bourbon are likely to be cracked open in the next month.

Yellow Spot has been drunk dry and will be replenished. A superb whiskey that should probably cost a few shekels more.
