I'd suggest a little more indication of the article content, eg:

An Irishman's Diary: Kilbeggan Distillery

But now you have seen the trick when you quoted the link :-)

But even this would be cool:

An Irishman's Diary: Kilbeggan Distillery
http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/opi ... 87751.html

Just so we don't all have to follow the link to figure out what it is.

Irish going strength to strength.

http://www.irishcentral.com/news/Jameso ... 72195.html

This is the Independent article behind their story

http://www.independent.ie/national-news ... 61625.html

The most astounding part of the article is this I think

"Earlier this month, UK drinks giant Diageo confirmed it was to invest €1.2bn in Scotch whisky production to 2017. Diageo -- which controls brands such as Johnnie Walker, Bells and J&B that, in turn, deliver 27 per cent of the firm's sales -- has also had soaring sales in Eastern Europe and the Far East."

No mention of Diageo's plans for Bushmills.

Slightly tangential, but I note the island of Inish Turk Beg is for sale, the single malt whiskey of the same name is mentioned:

http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/pro ... tml?via=mr

The article states the Beatles bought one of the other islands in Clew Bay but it was John Lennon and Yoko Ono. They rented it to a group of hippies for a period. I'm not sure whether Yoko Ono still owns it. There was a programme about it on TG4 a couple of years ago.

I was reading this about Cooley's medal haul
http://www.herald.ie/news/whiskey-medal ... 86464.html

I tried to get the breakdown of all the results from the IWSC but could not find my way around the site.
Does anyone know what the results were

Some really strange results, but agree with alot as well. Tullamore dew only got a bronze, green spot only a silver!

Other Tullamores got silver & gold...bronze, to my mind, would be acceptable for the standard shelf offerings of any given label.

I'm sure we've all heard the news about Altech...

http://businessandleadership.com/export ... skey-still

The article is a bit confusing, but here's a little bit extra from whiskytime on another forum...

Dr. Lyons (founder of Alltech) is Irish. He was educated in Dublin & England & worked as a biochemist for Irish Distillers before he founded Alltech in the 1980's. I think distilling is really his passion & now that he has plenty of money, he can afford to pursue it. I've tasted the first batch sold of the KY bourbon & it was young but good w/lots of potential.
