Postby varizoltan » Sat May 23, 2009 12:41 pm

...just spoted it today...

Is there anyone who can tell why is the first and fifth edition was called WHISKEY BIBLE
and second, third, fourth, and sixth called WHISKY BIBLE :?:

the first three was published by Carlton Books and the rest by Dram Good Books

it is just not clear for me

I have a feeling it has got to do where the version was meant to be sold.

Whisky Bible is the European & Asian Versions

Whiskey Bible is the North American version

My 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2009 versions are Whisky

I have a 2008 version as Whiskey

You have missed one out.

There is a Jim Murray's Whiskey Bible 2006.

For those of you looking to complete sets, improve your air gun shooting skills or just genuinely ruin your eyesight, I believe signed/unsigned copies are available for sale from whiskybible.com.

There is a very good reason why some years there are "Whiskey" versions and others there are not. If you spot me in some part of Ireland/Budapest and ply me with a peg or two of a long-lost Irish brand, preferably Pure Pot Still from a vanished distillery, or a finger or two of Old Ferencvaros, I might just consider telling you....

Jim

As it happens, a good few years ago I sent you a sample of Jameson seven year old pure pot still. Maybe too long ago to remember. It was from the 1940s. I wonder what you thought of it.

Any plans for a book other than the Whisky Bible series, a la Classic Irish Whiskey or the Irish Whiskey Almanac?

May I also ask if there is a chance you might sell Classic Irish Whiskey as a digital download, now that it's out of print and out of stock? I would buy it.

Your always welcome over here in the wild west, I'm not far from Galway city.

I have a mystery PPS which was bottled in Germany in the 1970's, guaranteed at least 14years old and it would be a great excuse to open it ;)

Called Black Eagle but only bottled at 43%

There's a term for an Irish whiskey right there - a meir or mere or something like that. Anyway, my memory tells me that's Irish for finger. My memory is not very good, though.

Have you searched on the internet for "dreether"? It's used by exactly two people, one of whom is you. Are you related to the other person? :D

I can't imagine what that might correspond to in Irish. Any thoughts yourself?

For some reason I have two copies of the 2008 bible - one spelled whisky and the other whiskey.

Maybe I was just trying to get on Jim's good side.

Hey Iain, can you check where both copies were printed and see if the publisher is the same on both.

My 2008 Whiskey Bible was printed in Peru

Will do. One at home, one in work so will have to remember to bring one with me to the other place.
