I think that was asked at the tasting. Straight away, as far as I recall.

And I just realised I forgot to mention prices. €45-50 for the Powers, €160 for the Midleton.

It does now. I was hoping to slip them in quietly like they were always there but that plan is shot to hell now...

The reviewer says he met a sulphured cask. Not doubting his integrity or anything, but why would a distillery with probably the best cask management policy in the world (maybe) lead them to a sulphured cask? I might even have tasted this one. I suppose we all have different palates.

There was a badly sulphured whiskey at the Jameson tasting last week - a real stink-bomb - i'm not exaggerating! :o

I had the privilege of attending the event yesterday.
The Powers Johns Lane Distillery 12yo 46% ncf is the first single pot still to bear the name Powers since 1963 and has been eagerly awaited by Irish Whiskey fans. Big & robust.
The Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy 46% ncf is a new departure and is an all bourbon cask single pot still in the style of the Midleton Very Rare (except without the grain). Elegant!
The current Powers 12yo will remain, which is good news.
Midleton have made a commitment to bring out a couple /few releases every year going forward.
They confirmed a new edition of Redbreast later this year. Fingers crossed for an 18yo.
Finally on the ‘sulphured’ cask, it was 16yo cask strength heavy pot still 2nd fill sherry cask, i think what Lew is describing is a the full on impact of the sherry cask, I could get the note he described but I thought it was more reminiscent of the full on style some sherry heads enjoy.

Checked all the Midleton Legacy pictures that are up on site`s at the moment.

Can`t find a bonding, cask ore year statement on the bottle. Just wondering, because i cam over a Newsletter and it means there are 2500 bottles and it will be released yearly in the future.

So there should be some statement.

It's hard to see in the Pictures but in the bottom righthand corner of the label just above 700ml there will be a marking as well as a number. Not sure if the number will be the actual bottle numbers but probable as that is how the Midleton VR goes. Anyway there you will also see MSPS 11. Standing for Midleton Single Pot Still and the 11 relating to the year. Next year MSPS12 etc.

Another Pic here, don't know if it is any clearer than what you have already seen as it is still the official bottle pic.

What Cooley have said in the past is that they want to try the old Locke's mashbill of 60% malted barley, 35% unmalted barley and 5% oats at Kilbeggan.

Excellent news, I'm sure we will learn more on Wednesday.

Just to give ye my side of the Launch for what is basically me first blog post. See Here

The IDL guys were very open and honest and it sounds like a real exciting time for them and Irish Whiskey in general by the sounds of it.

In the end the whole day was running behind schedule so did not get to ask too many technical questions but got some good info at the same time. Will try and post as much as I can in the relevant areas.
