Redbreast 15 Third Edition

Let's talk whiskey.

Redbreast 15 Third Edition

Postby freeestyler » Fri Feb 25, 2011 12:05 am

I wanna just share a great news with you. April/May will be released a third edition of the 15 years old Redbreast. According Irish Distillers the taste of the new version will be near to the first one, which is another great news! It will be released as a single pot still.

You are right, that is great news! Thank you for letting us know. With luck, we will have an opportunity within the society to try it soon after it comes out.

Excellent first post freestyler ;) and wonderful news by all accounts but I am wondering about the 3rd release tag line. Is this not release 4 or 5 ??? I may be wrong but has there been more releases than has been hailed.

To help round out the list, I have a US 750ml, 2010 Batch L015331159 (bottled 2.6.10). But shouldn't the batch # start with L10..?

The L code for 2010 could be both 10 or 0. It possibly depends on when and possibly where it was bottled.

I may be a scenario that they went with 0 for a while and decided to go with 2 digits there after.

Before it was always only 1 digit with o standing for 2000 1 for 2001 2 for 2002 etc. But you also have some of these codes pre-dating that also so you could have say 8 which could stand for 1998 and 2008 . So possibly the 2 digit L code has been brought in to rectify this.

Hi TWB,

I've 6 bottles in total, soon to be less.
I'll add the batch codes, they maybe be helpful.

1st Release

2005 Batch L53483071

2005? Batch L53073071, this looks like another previously unknown batch. I'll be bringing this with me for the tasting. It's printed on the bottle, not etched.

I had another but it's long gone. Sorry I didn't keep the bottle.

2nd Release

2009 Batch 933731276 (bottled 03/12/09)

2x 2009 Batch 933831276 (bottled 04/12.2009)

2010 Batch 002731276 (bottled 27/01/10)

Hopefully this additional info is useful. All this is making me thirsty.

I opened an new bottle over Christmas, one bought in December, though as I'm in work I don't have the batch number to hand.

This had always been one of my go to whiskeys but I'm afraid I was disappointed in the particular bottle - it was no way near the same standard as usual - I'll check the batch number later!
