Midleton Single Pot Still 19 Year Old

Let's talk whiskey.

Midleton Single Pot Still 19 Year Old

Postby Luke Gough » Mon Jan 17, 2011 7:29 pm

Here's the latest on the 19 Year Old Cask Strength Midleton Single Pot Still 19 Year Old (53.7% ABV) available from the Irish Whiskey Collection in Dublin Airport T2: http://www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/midletonsinglecaskwhiskey.htm

John Hansell comments also: http://www.whatdoesjohnknow.com/2011/01/16/irish-whiskey-lovers-two-rare-midleton-single-casks/

€260.00 is a bit steep :o that said, the nearest equivalent is Mitchell's Greenspot 12-Year Old (58% ABV) @ €850.00  http://www.mitchellandson.com/green-spot-year-irish-whiskey-bicentenary-edition-p-361.html

For those with suitable deep pockets, enjoy...

From what I hear this is only the start of it ;) :D
Expect more news on the PPS front shortly.
J.
PS: Is that €260 a duty-free or a travel retail price?

hey guys, it's been a while since i've dropped by the forum (school and other petty distractions) but i was wondering what the verdict was on this stuff at your tasting? I have a close friend whose getting married in the fall and he's a pretty avid fan of PPS. I was thinking of getting him either the new PPS CWS bottling or the terminal 2 bottling. Any suggestions?

The 19yo Midleton Single Cask was the clear winner on the night, if you can get it at the duty free price it is special!

so, if you had to choose between the terminal 2 PPS and the CWS 46% bottling, which one would you lot pick as a wedding present for a friend?

Depends on what your frien is used to ... can he take his whiskey at cask strength. Of course he can always water it down if not ;)

For me it probably would have to be the T2 bottling as it is cask strength (53.7%) which makes it quite unique for an IDL bottling. But in all fairness both will be super bottlings so it really is a toss up and which is the easiest to source.

oh thank you zoltan/luke, that's tremendously helpful ;) Unfortunately i'm on a student budget so its a big spring just to get one or the other. As for the recipient, he's most certainly used to cask strength whiskeys and, among the more regular PPS botlings, he has a thing for green spot if that helps narrow it down between the two

as for sourcing, CWS of course ship abroad and i'll be in Dublin sometime around July/August so i should be able to pop into terminal 2 (any views on the likelihood that there'll still be bottles there?)
