Origine Irish whiskey

Let's talk whiskey.

Origine Irish whiskey

Postby Mr Booze » Wed Jan 12, 2011 3:15 am

I don't know if anyone here has information on Origine Irish whiskey, but I saw it at the local store and was tempted to pick up a bottle. I'm sure it is a Cooley blend but I'm curious to know if anyone has any more information before I pick up a bottle:

This review compares the flavor to styrofoam and gives it 84 points: http://www.tastings.com/scout_spirits.lasso?id=191521

So that tells me nothing. The fellow stocking the shelves at the store advised against drinking it, but what does he know? Probably drinks vodka. Just kidding.

The 'Established since 1780' declaration on the uppermost part of the label is curious? But I've never heard of it.

Alledgedly, it is produced by Cooley to order for the Origine brand, which also includes 'premium' French Vodka, Single Malt Scotch, London Dry Gin, VS Cognac, VSOP Cognac, Tequilas, Rums, Cordials and Premier Cru Brut Champagne.

Would the 1780 not be a reference to Jamesons ?

I think the "small batch" part was most curious to me. I'll have to get a bottle soon and see. Cheers.

"Master Distiller David Hynes" is the giveaway here, I think.
It's a Cooley.

I'm looking to find Origine, Neill's and Emerald Isle Irish Whiskies. Does anyone know if these can be purchased in the States or online? thanks!

Is it Neill's or O'Neill's you mean. There was an O'Neill's which was a single malt single cask released in Germany but that would be long sold out. I have a bottle but if your Vermont based not sure if I can get it to you. I also know of an Erin's Isle but not Emerald Isle ... This does not mean that they do not exist though as they a re possibly US only releases.

You can find Origine in the States. I could give you the address where I bought my bottle but I am in the American Midwest and I guess by your name you are in Vermont so I don't think that would help you...
